As part of its dedication to environmental stewardship and the promotion of sustainability, Coca-Cola Vietnam has contributed 1,200 trash bins, valued at over VND 2.3 billion, to more than 100 schools, educational institutions, and training agencies throughout Ho Chi Minh City. The event took place at the Coca-Cola community support center EkoCenter in Ho Chi Minh City, marking a significant step in the company’s collaboration with the city to implement environmental protection activities in schools and continue to actualize Coca-Cola’s vision of a World Without Waste.
The event welcomed the participation of key leaders including Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment, leaders from Thu Duc City, district education department leaders, principals from high schools and middle schools in Thu Duc City, along with the leadership of Coca-Cola Vietnam and partners VECA and Green Connect.
Mr. Peeyush Sharma, CEO of Coca-Cola Vietnam spoke during the event
Representatives from the Department of Education and Training from five districts in Ho Chi Minh City—Binh Chanh District, Hoc Mon District, Nha Be District, Cu Chi District, Can Gio District, and Thu Duc City—collectively received and oversaw the distribution of categorized trash bins. Aimed at reducing plastic waste, Coca-Cola Vietnam donated two types of bins, one for used beverage cans and bottles, and another for other types of waste.
Ms. Cao Thi Thien Phuc, Head of Political and Ideological Department – Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, shared at the event: “In recent years, the city’s education sector has launched numerous movements and programs to enhance environmental awareness among students and educational institutions, addressing climate change. By receiving the sponsorship of 1,200 trash bins from Coca-Cola Vietnam, we hope to encourage more businesses to join hands in protecting the environment, preserving natural resources and biodiversity, combating climate change, and especially raising awareness and minimizing the use of plastic waste in our surroundings.”
Leaders of Ho Chi Minh City Departments and Agencies, local residents and leaders of Coca-Cola Vietnam participated in the program
Mr. Peeyush Sharma, CEO of Coca-Cola Vietnam added, “In pursuit of our commitment to a World Without Waste – where we aim to collect and recycle a bottle or can for each one we sell by 2030 – we have not limited our efforts to sustainable packaging solutions alone. Instead, we have engaged in collaborations with numerous domestic and international partners to collect and recycle packaging materials. In collaborating with the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, we were delighted to partner for the cause of promoting waste segregation at its source, fostering awareness at grassroots levels, and catalyzing recycling efforts, all contributing to the advancement of a circular economy.”
The event also engaged a significant number of Linh Trung Ward residents in Thu Duc City, participating in interactive activities such as waste sorting instructions, exchanging used bottles and cans for gifts, and the installation of the VECA electronic bottle purchasing app, operating in collaboration with Coca-Cola Vietnam’s sustainable development partners, VECA and Green Connect.
