P&G strengthens the capabilities of women entrepreneurs with the first-ever Women Entrepreneurs Academy program in Vietnam

Oct 27, 2023

Organized for the first time in Vietnam, the program benefits directly more than 50 female business owners and leaders of small and medium-sized companies. The program is a key initiative in P&G’s long-term commitment towards an equal and inclusive environment aimed to close the gender economic gap.

Procter & Gamble Vietnam (“P&G Vietnam”), in collaboration with WEConnect International, announced the launch of the first-ever “Women Entrepreneurs Academy” (WEA) initiative in Vietnam. This flagship program aims to empower and elevate women entrepreneurs, fostering their business growth and development.

Organized on the 25th October 2023 in HCMC, the event saw the appearance of esteemed guests and participants from US Consulate Deputy Consul General Anne Benjaminson, Center for Enterprise Development – South (Ministry of Planning and Investment), UN Women Vietnam, VCCI, The Ho Chi Minh City Association for Women Executives and Entrepreneurs (HAWEE), and more than 50 female business owners and leaders of small and medium-sized companies, regardless of industry.

The WEA initiative fosters a supportive network of empowered women entrepreneurs who can share experiences and support one another

The WEA initiative, which has been successfully implemented in more than 10 countries since 2017, has already supported more than 520 female business owners. The program provides participants with access to P&G’s global training courses, covering a wide range of topics such as leadership skills, strategic business planning, technology integration in procurement processes, and more.

The comprehensive training program includes a day of in-person learning in Ho Chi Minh City, followed by ongoing online discussions over the next 2 months. Participants will receive instruction on critical business aspects, including leadership skills, human resource management, brand building and development, distribution and sales system optimization, and negotiation skills enhancement.

This initiative is not solely about imparting knowledge; it’s about fostering a supportive network of empowered women entrepreneurs who can share experiences and support one another. The WEA also creates a dynamic community where women’s voices are amplified, and their businesses can thrive.

Ms. Priyamvada Srivastava, Vice President, Country Manager of P&G Vietnam, emphasized the significance of the WEA initiative, saying, “At P&G Vietnam, we’ve long championed Diversity, Equality, and Inclusion as we strive to be a Force for Growth and a Force for Good. P&G always recognizes the incredible potential that women entrepreneurs bring to the world of business. We believe that when women succeed, economies thrive, communities prosper, and societies advance. We are proud to reiterate our dedication to supporting and empowering women in business in Vietnam through this program.”
